Discover the bike tours of the Salzkammergut!
Get out of the house and dive straight into biking pleasure! The Lake Wolfgang cycling path passes by only 50 meters from our hotel, the starting point for many tours. We have compiled some popular routes for you here.
Bike route around Lake Wolfgang
This enjoyable tour around our beautiful lake is something for all cyclists – no matter whether you are riding your e-bike or a traditional bike, whether you like to take it easy or are looking for a sporty challenge.
The trail runs around the whole lake. Want to travel part of the way by boat? You can reach the St. Wolfgang crossing by bike in only a few minutes and on foot in approx. ten minutes. Cross over to St. Wolfgang by ship and explore the cycling paths on the other side of Lake Wolfgang.
Breitenberg tour
Starting from our hotel, this medium-difficulty tour takes you through beautiful forests and meadows up to the Breitenberg mountain. You are always on forest roads and you decide for yourself whether you want to ride around the mountain or simply go straight up. In addition, you have the opportunity to reach the summit cross by a few minutes walk and enjoy a wonderful view over Lake Wolfgang.
Eisenau round tour
For this tour you follow the Lake Wolfgang cycling path to Strobl, where you turn toward the Schwarzensee. The asphalt road leads you to the small mountain lake, which you cycle halfway around to reach the alpine huts via meadows and forest roads. We recommend that you stop off at one of the huts for refreshments and then continue on your way. The bike tour through the Salzkammergut leads downhill along a forest road to the district of Burgau. From there you have to get back to St. Gilgen via the Scharfling where you will be guided back to the hotel via the Lake Wolfgang cycling path.
Zwölferhorn route
The Zwölferhorn is not only popular for hikers, but also for bikers. The ascent beings not far from our hotel. An eight-kilometre-long forest road, which is also used by cars, leads you to the Illingeralm hut. This is the end of the road for cars, but not for you as a cyclist. You follow the signposted alpine paths that lead you along the Arnika hut to the mountain station of the Zwölferhorn cable car. There you will experience a wonderful view across Lake Wolfgang before you make the return trip along the same route.
Genneralmtour – “The Challenger“
This tour from Lake Wolfgang to the Genneralm, the Postalm and back is considered challenging yet beautiful. Starting from the hotel you cycle toward the Breitenberg. On the way you follow the signs to Hintersee. Shortly before Hintersee you choose the route to the Genneralm and from there you cycle downhill to the old Postalm road. Via the panorama road you reach Strobl where you can cycle back to Abersee via the Lake Wolfgang cycling path.
All the effort is rewarded by the great natural spectacles, such as mountain streams and mountain peaks that you pass along the way.
